The International Plant Health Day (IDPH) serves n.fter the International Year of Plant Health 2020 of raising awareness that healthy plants serve to end hunger, reduce poverty, protect the environment and promote economic development. International plant health standards, effective monitoring and controls are the basis for sustainable plant protection and plant health.
The legal basis is the International Plant Protection Convention(IPPC), an international treaty designed to protect plants against pests by controlling and, where possible, preventing the spread and introduction of diseases to plants and plant products. The IPPC Secretariat is attached to the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations(FAO). subordinate.
